Alexandra Farms is a boutique grower specialising in nostalgic, romantic, fresh-cut garden roses, with David Austin Roses being their speciality. Nestled on the fertile savanna of Bogotá in Colombia's Andes Mountains, the farm benefits from ideal growing conditions, with warm days and cool nights.
In addition to their exquisite garden roses, they cultivate a select collection of other blooms, including dahlias and tweedia. Every flower is carefully grafted, nurtured, harvested, graded, bunched, and packed entirely by hand, reflecting their commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Since 2005, they have focused on growing flower varieties that combine stunning appearance with exceptional performance. By employing meticulous production techniques, they maximise the beauty of a David Austin Rose in colour, form, fragrance and vase life.
Alexandra Farms is the world's largest grower of David Austin cut roses, employing more than 400 people across their two farms. With the David Austin team making regular visits to the farm for more than 20 years, they have become an extension of our rose family.
Like us, Alexandra Farms take the responsibility of
caring for our planet as being an essential part of daily business. The farm is certified through Florverde Sustainable Flowers and One Carbon World, being committed to both social and environmental best practices.
Treading Lightly Due to Alexandra Farms’ location at altitude and near the equator, they do not need to cool, heat, or light their greenhouses. As a result, their carbon footprint is smaller than that of flowers grown in glass greenhouses elsewhere in the world. Even when factoring in the emissions from transporting the flowers to your doorstep, their overall carbon impact remains lower.
Turning waste into a Precious Commodity. The farm collects rainwater
and ground run-off to store in their reservoirs to re-use. Pristine housekeeping at the farms mean that not only does the area look picture-perfect but they collect all the plant waste, such as discarded plants and fallen leaves for composting to return back into the soil. A perfect circle of life.
Every drop counts. Alexandra Farms recycles 100% of the water used in their hydroponic greenhouses. In their soil-based growing areas, a portion of the irrigation water is collected through channels and returned to the reservoirs to reuse, ensuring sustainable water management. Water is indeed considered the equivalent of liquid gold, where every drop counts.
